New Delhi. Recently, Triumph Motorcycles India announced that it would be launching three all-new motorcycles - the Bonneville Speedmaster, 2018 Tiger 800 and the Tiger 1200 in the country this year. The Speedmaster is a cruiser based on the Bonneville Bobber, albeit with changes such as swept back handlebars, forward set footpegs, two seats and a pillion backrest. To complete the cruiser look, it gets oodles of chrome along with a two-tone paint job. Standout features include full-LED headlamps with DRLs and a single pod analogue instrument cluster with a digital readout. Power comes courtesy of a 1200cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin motor. It is the same high Torque (HT) motor that powers the Bonneville Bobber and the T120. This engine is rated at 77PS at 6100rpm and 106Nm at 4000rpm. Riding aids include ride-by-wire with two riding modes - Road and Rain - along with switchable traction control and cruise control.
As mentioned before, it shares its chassis with the Bobber. However, the rear subframe is a tad longer to accommodate the pillion seat. The Speedmaster gets 16-inch spoked wheels on either end while braking is done via twin 310mm Brembo discs at the front and a 255mm disc at the rear. ABS is offered as standard fitment. The Speedmaster to be priced around the Rs 10.5 lakh mark. It will rival the Harley-Davidson 1200 Custom, which is priced at Rs 9.75 lakh.
